On Wednesday, February 3rd, The Home Depot reaffirmed its commitment to HBCUs by announcing its 2016 Retool Your School Campus Improvement Grant Program. Now in its seventh year, the world’s largest home improvement specialty retailer utilizes the program to offer Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) the opportunity to apply for grants that provide sustainable renovations to their campuses.

JCSU Bowling Heads to CIAA Roundup This Weekend

This weekend’s matches will take place at the B&B Bowling Lanes and will feature nine CIAA teams, five from the Northern Division and four from the Southern Division. JCSU will take on each team from the Northern Division in this weekend’s format.

The Johnson C. Smith University men’s basketball team blew open a close game by going on a 12-0 run in the latter stages of the second half and never looked back, taking a crucial 81-68 win over St. Augustine’s at Emery Gym on Wednesday night.

JCSU Women’s Basketball Rolls to 76-62 Win at St. Augustine’s

JCSU got a team-high 15 points and 10 points from senior Ashley Porter (Winston-Salem, N.C.). Porter finished the night shooting 6-of-13 from the field in the win. Freshman teammate A’Diyah Ussery (Shelby, N.C.) completed the game with 14 points, including a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Ussery also nailed two three pointers in the win.

JCSU SAAC Teams With Loaves and Fishes, Boy Scouts in Scouting For Food Drive

On Sunday against Wingate, Miller fell in his match at No. 4 singles by a 6-1, 6-1 score. All other singles matches were swept by 6-0, 6-0 counts. In doubles play, Tarick Miller (New Orleans, La.) and Sharif Axam (Atlanta, Ga.) fell at No. 1 by an 8-2 score, with the remaining doubles matches ending in 8-0 scores.
